Tom Petty wasn’t always a rock star. At one time, he was a little child with rock and roll star ambitions. Before he was even a teen, he knew that rock and roll was his destiny. A meeting with the King of rock, Elvis, spawned his pursuit of music. Early guitar lessons from Don Felder, who was to go on to connect with the Eagles, afforded him some of the guitar skills he needed. But seeing the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan TV show was the real clincher. Petty knew that he would be a rock star right then and there!
